Alec’s Training Tip of the Month
During the holiday season, our dogs are expected to accept more friends and family into the home than usual. A very important tip to set up your dog to succeed at this very difficult task, is to ask your guests to ignore your dog as they enter your home. Then encourage them to continue ignoring them for around 10-15 minutes. If all is going well, and the dog has calmed down nicely, then they can invite the dog over for a pet and a kind word. If you use this technique successfully, the dog will learn that guests that are welcomed by you are to be greeted in a calm balanced manner.
Happy Holidays to you and your four, three and two legged family!
Diane’s Grooming Tip of the Month
It can be helpful to brush your dog’s teeth every few weeks. The long toothbrushes kits found in pet stores seem to work best and be sure to use pet toothpaste (not human). Brushing the front teeth and the outside of the molars only is adequate.
