Flash's story is incredible!
Although we could never replicate what a California Highway Patrol dog is trained in, New Leash On Life does offer both in-home and on-site at our facility training. Visit our website for more information - http://nlol.org/training-information.
From Kane (picture shown), all our adoptables, staff, and volunteers: Thank you to our brave soldiers stationed here at home and overseas. Today and everyday, we remember and thank our fallen heroes and their families for taking the ultimate sacrifice in the name of our freedom.
If Kane's good looks in his Memorial Day attire has caught your eye, please fill out an adoption application for him!
Dinner time is always a favorite time of day at New Leash On Life, for dogs and staff! This picture was taken last October – we couldn’t help but giggle over the sight of all those bowls. Does your family vacation during the summer months? If so, make sure your precious pet is taken care of while you are gone. Find more information and make a reservation (as you can tell we can get very busy so book as soon as possible) at http://nlol.org/boarding-day-care-info. #flashbackfriday
McKenna has been volunteering with us for a short amount of time but her help has made a long-term impact on our dogs. As an Animal Care Attendant, McKenna helps New Leash On Life staff with various tasks such as walking, feeding, and playing with our rescue dogs.
Who doesn't have errands to run on the weekends? The good news is you can cross off your to-do list and meet our adoptable dogs at the same time. In addition, ask our staff about boarding and training opportunities and sign up to volunteer with us. It is a win-win situation! Visit http://nlol.org/adoption-events for the locations, days, and times of our mobile pet adoptions. See you there!
Adoptable Barkley (above) likes to think he owns the Dog Park, but that is not true (do not tell him we said that). Come to New Leash On Life and let your dog be the King or Queen of our rentable Dog Park or Pool Area. 30 or 60 minute time slots are available!
What is better on a Tuesday night than a burger, fries, and a milkshake? Nothing!
Today from 4-10pm at the McBean Pkwy, Valencia location, proceeds from your purchase at The Habit will go towards New Leash On Life when you mention the event at the register. This will help us complete the newly installed kitchen cabinets and dog food storage bins.
The Habit has a dog friendly patio so bring the whole family. See you there!
Giving Tuesday was created as a global day dedicated to giving back. We all know Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, yet these days focus on commerce and purchases. With Giving Tuesday that mold is meant to be broken – it celebrates the joy of giving time, donations, knowledge, or anything else you can offer.
While nearly every dog owner goes to the supermarket to buy dog food for their pet and most are assured they are nutritionally balanced, commercial pet foods may not be in your dog’s best interest. Like human ‘ready meals’, they can contain ingredients that shouldn’t have any place in the diet and they just aren’t as good for your dog as fresh food.
Why you should avoid dry food
While genetics might argue differently, if we accept that ‘Friends are the family we choose,’ clearly all our rescued, adopted critters are indeed family. Take the case of Titan.
As many of you know, our beautiful Titan was lost in early Spring of this year after he escaped from his adopter's yard. New Leash On Life launched a major outreach to find him: We posted thousands of fliers, networked him online, called in Search and Rescue Dogs, placed cameras, feeding stations, watering holes, and people all over the areas where he was spotted.
