PLEASE HELP BEAU
UPDATE: 9/10/09
Beau has been improving every
day since his surgery. Now excelling in his water therapy, Beau is
also able to go on short walks and is acting a lot like his old self
again. Barking excitedly for his food and begging for someone to pet
him all day long are just some of his old traits that the staff and
volunteers have been waiting for since he hurt himself. We look
forward to helping Beau continue his healing journey. Thank you again
for your support of our special boy!

UPDATE: 7/18/09
Thanks to all of the donations and support and a
special thanks to Dr. Vega and her staff at Happy Pets Veterinary
Center in Santa Clarita, Beau made it through the first part of this
surgery with flying colors! He is now resting comfortably back
at the Ranch and has begun the long road to recovery. As of now, Beau
needs assistance going outside to go to the bathroom and is on strict
bed rest. With some future physical therapy and lots of support, we
hope Beau will begin to feel like his old self again. For now, the
highlights of his day are seeing his favorite people and of course
munching on bones and happily wags his tail for both. Check back here
for more updates!

Long time New Leash On Life resident, Beau, a 9 year old
Rottweiler mix, will be undergoing surgery as soon as possible.
Already the victim of bad hips and arthritis, Beau’s weary back legs
were just another downfall to his old age. But when he accidentally
tripped over a metal bar when exiting a kennel, his fragile legs just
weren’t strong enough to take the fall.
After a recent visit to the
veterinarian, we were surprised to find out that not only did Beau
tear a cruciate ligament in one of his hind legs, but in both legs!
Normally a happy-go-lucky and excited boy who loves car rides,
pulling you down the hill on his walks, and running to the cookie
jar, Beau is now forced to lie around all day and is only able to go
outside to go to the bathroom using a harness to assist him. The
staff at New Leash is doing everything possible to ensure Beau’s
comfort, though the strain in his face reveals that he is in
constant pain and discomfort despite his pain medication.
We desperately need your help and
donations to help get Beau back on all fours! More than anything, we
all want to see our Beau Bear acting like his old self once again.
Beau brings smiles to our faces every day and we’ve promised him we
will return the favor to him no matter what it takes.
To operate on both legs will cost
approximately between $4,000 and $6,000 and must be performed by a
Tibial Tuberosity Advancement (TTA) certified veterinarian.
We know economic times are more difficult than ever as New Leash On
Life has experienced many hardships in recent months. No matter the
setbacks we may be faced with, our love for the dogs is unwavering
which is why we will do all we can to make sure they are happy and
healthy above all else.
Without donations and support, New
Leash On Life would not be able to continue rescuing and helping
homeless dogs. If you are able to give anything to help with the cost
of Beau’s surgery, please
donate today. Thank you.
