***New
Leash Ranch Returning to Normal*** ***UPDATE 10/25/07***
Thursday, October 25th
Most of our evacuated dogs have gone home and things are beginning to
feel normal again. Although some of the exercise pens are still
upside-down and not in place, we hope to remedy that problem on
Make-A-Difference Day (this Saturday). If you are interested in
helping out with the various projects
please contact Sallie, our Volunteer Coordinator. 661.255.0097 or email
her at volunteer@nlol.org
Thank you to everyone who has turned out to help this week.

Preparedness for Pet Owners
Tuesday, October 23rd Many evacuated dogs have
come to the New Leash Ranch over the past few days and are now
beginning to return to their owners. Thank you to the volunteers who
have already been able to give their time and efforts to the dogs and
our facility. At this time, we are still seeking extra help caring for
evacuated pets as well as New Leash dogs. If you'd like to help,
please call us at (661) 255-0097. The state of the
ranch itself is still a work in progress. Several blown-over exercise
pens have recently been broken down, but a few still remain untouched,
lying on their sides until winds subside. Thanks to hard-working staff
and volunteers, however, our dogs have been able to go on lots of
walks and spend time outside of their kennel. Again,
thank you to all of you for your support, especially in this time of
need. Click here to make a

Disaster
Preparedness for Pet Owners Monday, October 22nd Late last night (Sunday, October 21st) high winds
ripped four of our exercise pens off the ground and sent them
flying. Currently they are residing where they landed last
night. Some are slung over the kennel and into the pool area,
others just upside-down in the middle of our exercise area. We
need help to secure these structures down and make the ranch safe as
we are also expecting a large influx of displaced dogs from the fire
evacuations.
The Castaic Animal Shelter has already put in a call
to our office to ask for a place to put all these unfortunate
doggies. If you can come help us at the ranch today in any
capacity, please do. The high winds continue to threaten the
ranch as the already destroyed pens are hanging on rooftops and
sticking to trees. Thank you for helping us in this time of
need.
