Lend a Paw on a Mission

The Los Angeles Mission exists to provide help, hope and opportunity to men, women, and children in need.

As one of its graduates said: "I'm not hungry anymore, I'm not empty anymore. I've changed from the inside out."

For those of us in animal rescue there’s a resonant echo of our own calling.  How perfect for the Lend A Paw dogs to reach out in service to this community.

The Downside of Dog Food

While nearly every dog owner goes to the supermarket to buy dog food for their pet and most are assured they are nutritionally balanced, commercial pet foods may not be in your dog’s best interest.  Like human ‘ready meals’, they can contain ingredients that shouldn’t have any place in the diet and they just aren’t as good for your dog as fresh food.

Why you should avoid dry food

If you are not sure about whether to spay or neuter your pet, please read the following information:

Misconceptions contribute to animal overpopulation.  Every hour in the United States, more than 2,000 dogs and 3,500 cats are born compared to 415 humans.  THERE ARE JUST NOT ENOUGH HOMES.

People give many reasons why they want to allow their dog to reproduce.

Pet Overpopulation

A Pet's Prayer: "I ask for the privilege of not being born... not to be born until you can assure me of a home and a master to protect me, and a right to live as long as I am physically able to enjoy life... not to be born until my body is precious and men have ceased to exploit it because it is cheap and plentiful."
